The UES Gingham Check Button-Down Shirt puts a distinctive spin on a classic button-down, combining a lightweight fabric with the texture, structure, and craftsmanship that define UES shirting.

Woven from approximately 4oz cotton, the original UES gingham fabric is made using double-twisted yarns that give the surface a subtle sheen and refined texture. The warp incorporates slightly heavier corded yarns at regular intervals, helping the fabric stand away from the skin for a cool, airy feel in warmer weather.

The fabric is woven at high density on a power loom, resulting in a surprisingly substantial and firm hand despite its lightweight construction. UES has also enlarged the traditional gingham pattern slightly, giving the shirt a more relaxed and casual character.

Natural shell buttons are used throughout, adding a refined finishing touch, while reactive dyes provide excellent colorfastness and help the gingham retain its character through repeated washing.

Easy to care for and comfortable enough for everyday wear, the shirt can typically be worn without ironing when reshaped after washing and hung to dry. The result is a practical, beautifully constructed button-down that balances classic styling with the unique fabric character UES is known for.
