"Amami Dorozome" Boro Workshirt - Amber Brown (5717)
The "Amami Dorozome" collection from Studio D'artisan is a rare, limited-edition series of garments dyed on the remote island of Amami Ōshima using the traditional Japanese dorozome (mud-dyeing) technique. This centuries-old process blends vegetable tannins with the island's iron-rich mud, resulting in deeply organic, earthy tones—each garment bearing a unique, unrepeatable finish.
Amami Ōshima is celebrated for its mineral-rich soil, which enhances both the complexity of the dye and the durability of the color, offering exceptional variation and longevity. The 5717 shirt is crafted from a custom-woven Boro jacquardfabric, drawing inspiration from Japan’s storied textile traditions. Made in Osaka, the shirt features a vintage workwear-inspired silhouette, complete with dual chest utility pockets and tagua nut buttons—a natural, sustainable alternative to plastic.
This piece bridges ancient craftsmanship with modern design, offering a garment that’s rich in history, texture, and character.
