AMUNDSEN HEAVY FLANNEL SHIRT- INDIGO
The UES Amudsen shirt received its name from its development in Bishu (Aichi Prefecture) during the time of explorer Amundsen's successful Antarctic expedition.
This flannel fabric stands out from regular heavy flannels due to its unique use of 7-ply weft yarns and uneven yarns, resulting in a more voluminous texture. Additionally, the fabric features rope dyed yarns and is woven in the distinctive Amundsen pattern, giving it a matte finish. The brushed back side adds a soft touch, while the air layer provides warmth.
Indigo fabric made from pre-dyed threads requires specialized factories with vintage power looms due to the staining process and low production efficiency. Due to these limitations, only a limited amount of this fabric can be woven daily. However, the slower weaving process results in a voluminous, durable fabric with a soft touch.
We believe that this shirt is a best compared to the extremely popular UES Tricotine Shirt. While sporting a similar texture and indigo saturation, this piece is a lighter and softer option for those tricotine lovers.
