The U.S. Navy Hooded Pullover Jacket from Buzz Rickson’s is a faithful reproduction of a 1940s military anorak originally issued to sailors handling ammunition and gunpowder. Designed with function at the forefront, it features a distinctive double placket that offers added protection, along with a deep hood that can be drawn up to shield much of the face.

Constructed from a lightweight yet high-density denim, the fabric has a firm, structured feel that reflects its utilitarian roots. Despite its lighter weight, the tightly woven denim provides durability while gradually softening with wear. The washed finish gives it a more broken-in character from the start.

True to its original purpose, the jacket is cut in a loose silhouette, allowing it to be easily layered over shirts or knits. Drawcords at the hood and waist offer adjustability, while period-correct details—like the stitched size notation at the back of the neck—underscore its authenticity.
