Mud and Natural Indigo Dyed Denim Jacket (MXGJ10024)
Mud dyeing is an extraordinary technique found exclusively on the Japanese island of Amami Oshima. By utilizing fine-grained mud, this method dyes fabric beautifully while preserving its integrity. Moreover, mud dyeing offers insect-repellent and deodorizing properties. This unique practice, which has been handed down for 1,300 years, stands unmatched. This fabric is dyed with two types of natural dyes: mud dyeing and indigo dyeing. Typically, the process starts with indigo dyeing, followed by mud dyeing. However, this sequence can result in a color that is too dark. To enhance the unique qualities of the mud dye, the order has been reversed, beginning with mud dyeing and then applying indigo. Since each pair is hand-dyed, subtle variations in the finish occur, giving every pair its own distinct character.
