This heavyweight rib knit cardigan is crafted to replicate the distinctive texture of Gara spinning—a method named after the rattling noise of the now-obsolete spinning machines that once produced it. These older machines lacked precision, which gave the yarn a naturally uneven, slubby character. Though no longer in operation, their legacy lives on in this unique 11.8 oz single rib knit fabric.

To recreate that traditional feel, the shirt uses a specially developed slub yarn, resulting in a rich, organic texture with visible irregularities. The substantial weight gives the garment a structured yet comfortable feel, ideal for layering or wearing on its own.

Structural details are also thoughtfully considered: anti-stretch tape is sewn into the shoulder seams and extends across the back of the neck to prevent distortion over time. The button placket and buttonholes are reinforced with cotton tape, ensuring durability while maintaining a clean finish.
